National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Monday, September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Day – a day to advance our understanding and awareness of Indigenous history as well as to honour and acknowledge the victims and survivors of residential schools.

Bunt recognizes that the journey towards reconciliation is complex, and the impacts of residential schools is ongoing. We are encouraged to listen, learn, and hear what is being shared on Canada’s Indigenous history. There are many ways we can do this, including attending events, increasing connections with Indigenous communities, and incorporating Indigenous learning into ongoing training and development efforts. We can also learn a great deal from Indigenous-led businesses, organizations, and resources that provide insight into Indigenous voices. Assembly of First Nations is one of many organizations that continuously advocates for the rights and quality of life of First Nations people in Canada and they have a number of upcoming events that people can sign up for.

In observance of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Bunt offices will be closed on September 30th. Reconciliation is the responsibility of every Canadian and we can all do our part in exploring and learning about the histories, experiences and culture of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
